Our Story:

Jason Spangler family

Jason Spangler was introduced to Angus cattle from an early age through his grandfather Taylor Cawood, owner of Cawood Angus Farm. Mr. Cawood served in the Angus business for over 50 years. He started Jason out working on his Angus cattle farm, attending Angus cattle auctions, and showing beef cattle through 4-H as a child. Through watching his grandfather’s many years of service and leadership locally and regionally in the Angus cattle business, Jason has developed a growing passion to carry on his grandfather’s legacy in the Angus business by taking over and reviving his grandfather’s Angus cattle farm with his wife Aubrie. Jason and Aubrie starting dating in high school and during that time Aubrie was introduced to Angus cattle at the Cawood Angus Farm. They would ride an ATV around the farm taking in the beautiful views and the serenity of the surroundings. Jason and Aubrie dated through high school and college. Both graduated from Lee University where Jason studied Biology as well as played college baseball and Aubrie studied Education. Jason and Aubrie married shortly after graduating college and moved to Blacksburg, VA for Jason to start medical school. Aubrie served as an elementary teacher during Jason’s training. It was always a dream of theirs to return to the family farm and reside on the farm. After several years of being away for medical training and after the completion of Dr. Spangler’s Sports Medicine Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University they were able to return home to Cleveland, TN, where he joined Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics. Dr. Spangler specializes in arthroscopic surgery and joint replacements. Four years after moving back to Cleveland, Tennessee, Dr. and Mrs. Spangler along with their three children were able to make their dream come true and move to the family farm. Jason’s grandfather continued to raise Angus cattle into his 80’s until his health declined and he passed away in 2021. During his illness, plans were made based on Mr. Cawood’s wishes for Dr. Spangler and family to take over the Cawood Angus Farm and continue Mr. Cawood’s legacy. In 2020, Circle S Farms was established with goals of carrying on Mr. Cawood’s legacy and to produce high quality genetically enhanced Angus cattle to sell to Angus cattle producers locally, regionally, and on a national level. The name Circle S Farms is symbolic of the full circle Dr. Spangler and Aubrie took leaving the farm after college and returning almost 14 years later with their children to revitalize the Angus cattle farm. With Dr. Spangler’s science and medical background, he has an increased interest in using that knowledge to produce high quality genetics in the Angus cattle at Circle S Farms. Aubrie also plays a major role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Circle S Farms. Dr. and Mrs. Spangler have 3 children Paisley (12), Adelyn (10), and Grady (4). The children are involved in work on the farm, and Paisley has started showing beef cattle. Circle S Farms is a member of the American Angus Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association. Paisley is a member of the Junior Angus Association.
